The MARQ Recommended Attorney Network

MARQ files trademarks. We do not take infringement, enforcement, litigation, oppositions or cancellations — and our users hit those problems constantly. When they do, we send them to you.

Why these enquiries are different

A MARQ user asking for help is not browsing. They have run a clearance search or they are paying us to monitor their mark, and something has come back: a confusingly similar application, somebody trading under their name, a marketplace listing. They have already spent money to find out they have a problem. They are looking for counsel now.

  • High intent. The enquiry comes from a specific, evidenced conflict, not a form fill.
  • Specialty targeted. Infringement, enforcement, litigation, oppositions, cancellations, counterfeiting, licensing — you receive the ones you actually practise.
  • Delivered to your inbox. Name, contact details, the mark, and what went wrong, sent straight to you. Reply direct.
  • Flat, predictable cost. One monthly fee. No per-lead charge, ever.
  • An audience of active trademark owners. People who have already committed money to protecting a brand.

How we vet firms before they can join

This is a vetted network, and that is the point of it. A user who receives a recommendation from us should be able to rely on it, so nobody joins by paying. Every applicant is checked on:

  1. Active bar license in good standing. At least one attorney at the firm holds a current, active licence to practise law, verified against the state bar record.
  2. Demonstrated trademark practice. A real, current trademark practice — not a general practice that will take a trademark matter. We ask for representative matters.
  3. No public disciplinary record. Checked against the public disciplinary records of every jurisdiction the firm is admitted in.
  4. Professional liability insurance. Current professional liability (malpractice) cover, evidenced by the carrier and policy period.
  5. Client references (optional). Optional, and weighed where given.

An application that has not cleared every required check cannot be published — that rule is enforced in the system, not left to good intentions. Paying does not shortcut it: your membership can be active while your listing is still under review.

The fee structure, stated plainly

Your membership is a flat monthly advertising and listing fee. It is not a referral fee, it is not a per-lead fee, and it is not a percentage of anything you bill. MARQ takes no share of any fee you agree with a client, and is paid nothing for making a referral.

We have built it this way deliberately. Paying or receiving anything of value for a referral, and splitting fees with a non-lawyer, are prohibited by the rules of professional conduct — a per-lead model would put every member firm in breach. Your cost is the same in a month when you receive ten enquiries as in a month when you receive none.

MARQ is a law firm and does not co-counsel, supervise or participate in matters you take from the network. Nothing here creates a relationship between MARQ and your clients.
